We are getting close to the winter holiday break, and our students are starting to get excited. However, as we prepare for our winter break it is important to remind your student to do their homework and to work hard every day. Students have approximately two weeks to continue working hard to earn passing grades for the second nine weeks marking period.
We will be out of school from December 24th through January 7th. Two weeks may not seem like a lot, but it can have a tremendous impact on student achievement. Over the holiday break please make sure students access online educational resources for Reading and Math (Lexia and iREADY). When we return from our winter break, the administrative team will be meeting with 3rd-5th grade students to help them set goals for their next interim report card as well as the state standardized test. I encourage all parents to set academic goals with your students. We will also have 3 parent academic nights during the 2nd semester. Please be looking for the date in the January newsletter. Also be reminded that December 20th and 21st are half days for students. There will not be aftercare on campus on either day. Dismissal is at 1:20 p.m. for both days. Students return to school on January 8th, 2019.
We will have a number of mid-year benchmark assessments during the month of December. These assessments will help
teachers determine what instructional strategies to implement to increase student academic success. It is our goal that every student achieves at very high levels, so please help us by not allowing students to be idle over the next two weeks. We will also review our behavior expectations with students when they return.
Please have a happy and safe winter break. We will miss each and every one of our little WWE eagles. We want to always let you all know how much we appreciate the support you give your student and our school. We are in the pursuit of excellence. Remember every student, every day, WHATEVER IT takes.
Wishing you joy, peace and happiness,
