Happy New Year! I hope all of you had an enjoyable and relaxing time with your family over the Winter break. Now that we have all had some time to relax and recharge, it’s time to get back to our core business, teaching and learning. As a school, we are looking forward to an even more productive and successful second semester of the 17-18 school year. As we begin the second semester of the 17-18 school year, what a perfect time to encourage our students to set new goals for academic achievement! Focus on those areas of improvement or challenge and set realistic attainable goals. Let’s encourage our students to work at a steady pace; successful gains are sure to be achieved! Here, at Woodland West Elementary where we EXPECT THE BEST, we are no different. Our goal is for every student to continuously show growth academically, socially and emotionally. We are encouraging all students to continue to believe in themselves, try his or her best EVERY DAY and to strive for 85! We have launched a “Strive for 85” campaign where we are asking students to strive for 85 of better on all of their work. It is also our goal to grow to an 85 as our school performance score. We look forward to working together to support our students as we strive to achieve or exceed our academic goals for the 2017-18 school year! Report cards went home on Monday, January 8th. Please take some time to go through it with your child. If you have any questions or need to meet with your child’s teacher, call immediately. At
Woodland West, we will continue to support each child, but we are still in need of your help too. Make sure your child is completing his/her homework assignments at night, getting a good night’s rest, and having his/her materials ready for the next day. So let’s make 2018 the best year yet! Many thanks for your continued support.
