As part of its continued efforts to provide better information to its families, community members, and staff, the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) today launched a redesign of its district website at a new address, jpschools.org. The updated website features not just a new look, but also a new navigation menu and updated content so that district stakeholders can quickly find the information they need.
“We recognize that many of our parents, teachers, and community members depend on the website for critical news and updates concerning the school system, so the redesign really focused on making information easy to find,” said Superintendent Dr. James Meza, Jr.
New additions to the main navigation page include a new schools section, where visitors can quickly and easily filter schools by grade, level, or specialties, and a new department section, where users can find a list of departments and corresponding contact information for staff members.
The redesign also makes it easier to get the latest updates right from the homepage, which features a prominent “quick links” section, a consolidated newsfeed, and a list of upcoming events. Some of the other highlights to note include improved search and translate functions for every page, integration with social media like Twitter, Facebook, and Vimeo, and a new district calendar with the ability to filter events by type.
A redesign of all school websites will follow the district update later this summer.
“We welcome feedback from all of our stakeholders on how we can continue to improve the site,” said Meza.
