April showers bring May flowers. Spring is here and we are in full blossom as we approach the end of the 16-17 school year. Interim reports went home on April 28th; please reach out to your child’s teacher (s) to see if there is anything that you can do to help them at home to continue to be academically successful. We want to continue to work to ensure that all of our students are academically and socially successful through the end of the year.
The 4th nine weeks is vital to all of our students, especially our 3rd- 5th grade students. They have just completed the LEAP 2025 computer-based tests and are working on the paper-based state assessment tests. The Louisiana state testing is not promotional this year; however, it is still a meas-ure of students’ mastery of standards. We are confident that our students are SOAR-ING like the EAGLES they as they work to complete these very important tests.
This year we will have WWE Day. WWE Day will be on Friday, May 12th. Thank you for donating items to help make this year’s WWE Day successful. Tickets are on sale through May 12th. Each ticket is $0.25. Students are not allowed to purchase more than $10.00 in tickets. Tickets are not mandatory as there are lots of free activities for all students. All Woodland West students will be allowed to participate in this day of fun activities.
As the warmer weather approaches, please make sure that your student comes to school dressed according to the school dress code policy. If a student is in violation of proper uniform, he/she will be issued appropriate consequences. Please remember that only white socks should be worn. Knee-high socks are not allowed and only white, black or navy tights are allowed under skirts. Any non-uniform jackets or sweaters may not be worn in the classroom. No pull-over sweatshirts or hoodies should be worn unless it has the WWE logo or is solid blue or white.
Don’t forget that we will celebrate our teacher appreciation week during the week of May 8th – May 12th.
As always we thank you for your continued support.
