Ms. Toney’s Nest News
The 2017-2018 school year is off to a wonderful start. The faculty, staff and administration worked very hard this summer to prepare for the school year, and we are thrilled to focus with you on our core business: teaching and learning. Thank you to the families who attended our first events of the year: Meet and Greet, Pre-Kindergarten Orientation, Kindergarten Orientation, and Open House. Our incredible attendance at these events showed that we are all dedicated to help our students “Soar to Success.” Developing relationships with our families is a great way to begin our year and is one of our priorities; by working together, we will be able to celebrate your child’s success. Success is achieved when our students reach or exceed the academic and social emotional goals set forth by themselves and us, their teachers and parents. Woodland West’s teaching team is committed to helping our students become self-motivated, critical thinkers, and empathetic, responsible citizens. Together we have a responsibility to inspire our students to want to do their very best. Success in anything takes effort. Working as a team, we must help our students see that there will be positive or negative consequences for their actions based on the effort they put forth.
This includes the effort they put forth with their school work or the choices they make with their behavior. They are responsible for their own results and success. We will be their support team every step of the way. Open and honest communication are essential for continued growth and success. Parents, we encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with both your child and your child’s teachers. Should you have a problem that involves your child’s teachers, please contact them directly to try to come to a resolution. Ms. Fredericks and myself also welcome your feedback and questions throughout the year as we work together to run an efficient and effective school. Please be sure to check your child’s Eagle Express communication folder daily for notes from the school. I am looking forward to a rewarding and productive school year. Working together we will make WWE a place where Every Student Soars.
