Welcome
LaTonga Watts-Toney
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are excited about starting this school year and know that our students will continue to excel both socially and academically throughout the year. Our theme this year is “Goal Achievement Makes Excellence - Our Norm”. With the acronym G.A.M.E.-O.N.: Level UP. We are committed to fostering a culture of G.R.I.T. “growth, resilience, integrity and tenacity.” By ensuring students use determination and perseverance, we will continue to encourage them to set, monitor and achieve their goals. We are excited about the promise of the new year and are ready to accomplish our mission. The Mission of Woodland West School is to inspire, engage and prepare learners for global leadership, by encouraging creativity, developing character and intellect, and promoting social and emotional health. Our mission shows the value we place in nurturing the mind and the hearts of our students. These are qualities necessary to prepare children to be resilient and active citizens of the world. We want to ensure that students know that they have the potential to impact and better society for years to come.
I am committed to spending time with your children, getting to know them personally, and celebrating their accomplishments, small and large. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school.
Not only am I excited to continue working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do to engage families. It is also one of the key steps of our Schoolwide Literacy and Improvement Plans. Reading is one of the most important skills that a student can accomplish. Please help us by encouraging a love for reading and for books at home. Throughout the year, we will send home books that can be used to build at home libraries. Ensuring our students are readers by the time they get to 3rd grade is critical to future success and requires all of us to be “all in”.
The teachers, administrators, faculty, and staff of WWS are always here to work with you. We are all vital to the success of our students; therefore, ongoing collaboration and communication is welcomed and supported.
Thank you for your previous support and your continued support throughout this upcoming school year.
Respectfully,
Latonga Toney
